Llarmic History
It is my great pleasure to put this history to pen and paper. This text is derived from countless hours of discussions with the Llama Masters of the Spiritwood. I humbly hope that these pages wilt help thee on thine journey to spiritual enlightenment, and help thee to know the llama and thineself better.
-- High Priest Jyrthan Vingaard, 1534th year of the Holy Llama
In the beginning, there was nothing. And the Great Llama did look out upon this nothingness and dispair, for there was no other to frolic with, and nothing to frolic for.
And so the llama did spit in frustration, and look about agitatedly. And with a great bit of effort the llama did begin meditation, focusing on that which he did desire most. He willed the world into being, the oceans and trees and plants, and the world did spring into existence, with the Great Llama's spit forming the oceans, and his dung the earth.
The llama looked down upon the ball of dirt and water that he had willed, and he did step down upon it with great swiftness. The llama, upon having frolicked for some time,
realized that while t'was fun to frolic, it would be even greater to frolic in the company of others. And so the llama did shed a great amount of hair upon the ground, and out of the
hair did spring many in his likeness. Looking upon that which he had created, the llama did rejoice, for there were many other llamas around him, frolicking and playing as they would. There was great joy and even greater fun.
Before long, the great amount of frolicking and fun caught the eye of some of the other higher beings. And they did scheme and plot, for surely there was fun for them to be had in this new world as well?
The beings did come forth, and one night while the llamas were sleeping, they did being to inhabit the world with other beings in their own likeness. The Great Llama awoke during this and cried out in dismay, for now his world of
frolic was inhabited with other creatures, many of which did not want fun and frolic but instead wished to eat the wonderful plants that the Great Llama had created, and some were even catching and eating each other. The gods, hearing the
Great Llama's cry of dismay, laughed at him, for they found great jest and merriment in his suffering. The Great and Holy Llama didst then lash out at them, with all of the anger and spite he could muster, smiting many of them into dust.
The few that were left, the elephant, lion, and shark among them, didst grab their minions from the world and flee. The Holy Llama, satisfied at their retreat, went back to frolic and play.
These beings were not content to simply flee though, they ran straight to The Being, and didst tell him of what had transpired, twisting it against their enemy the llama. The Being was displeased by these stories, and reacted by going to see for himself what the Holy Llama
had created. Watching from a discrete distance, The Being watched, and waited. After some time, he decided he had seen enough, and appeared unto the Holy Llama. The Being approached the Holy Llama and spoke unto him.
"Thou hast stepped above thyself by handing out such punishments to those that simply wish to share what thou hast wrought. For this I curse thee to walk this world forever!"
The llama was quite pleased by this, for he had never liked the upper realms, and felt that he could happily frolic here forever. The Being did look upon him then with a cruel smile, and the llama's spirits fell, for he knew that his punishment was just beginning, and would not be so easy.
"For thine punishment, thou wilt also have tae put up with mine minions for eternity." And with that, The Great Being did sow his minions, all that walked upon two legs, upon the world. The Being didst then take away the Llama's formidable powers, leaving him and his creation nearly defenseless. And he did smile and disappear, for he knew his work to be truly done.
For many years, the llamas were miserable, moving from one hiding place to another, always in fear of the humans that hunted them for nothing more than sport. They ran from orcish hunting parties, from the trolls that liked to bite their heads off for fun.
Over time however, the llamas began to watch the world change. The more intelligent species began to separate themselves out from the general mass. Soon, there were cities being built, and some form of civilization began to establish itself.
The llamas soon found themselves running less, and able to frolic and meditate more.
After many hundreds of years, one llama who didst meditate more than the rest gained sudden insight to the universe. Whilest looking into himself, he saw the many lives he had lived since his banishment from the formless realms.
This vision of his former lives didst give him a new way of looking at all of creation, and this insight granted him the Llarmic Eye. Time didst lay stretched before him, and through this insight he didst realize the Llarma, or the universal truth. Embracing that truth, he began to teach it to the llamas around him. These teachings are
what is taught today to all llamas, and those of other species that wilt listen.
